Processing the Freeze Request
- The DP processes the freeze as per the request type.
- The freeze can be applied to the entire account or specific securities.
- Instructions are executed through the central depository system.
- The status of the freeze is updated in the depository records.
- Confirmation is sent to the account holder upon completion.
Effects of the Account Freeze
- Transactions such as debit or credit of securities are restricted.
- The account holder cannot initiate buy or sell orders.
- All account operations remain suspended during the freeze period.
- The freeze remains until a written request for unfreezing is received.
- Charges, if applicable, may be levied by the DP for this service.
Unfreezing the Demat Account
- Submit a written request to the DP to unfreeze the account.
- Provide any documents required for verification.
- The DP processes the unfreezing request in the system.
- The account holder receives a confirmation once the freeze is lifted.
- Normal account operations resume after unfreezing.
