NPCI recently rolled out a nationwide campaign to educate credit card users in India about linking their RuPay cards to UPI, emphasizing convenience and security. The campaign highlights how users can tie their credit cards to UPI apps like BHIM, Google Pay, or Paytm, enabling tap-and-go payments without carrying a physical wallet. It also underscores important safety practices such as setting a separate UPI PIN, authorizing payments via OTP, and avoiding risky transactions like peer-to-peer transfers using the credit card-linked UPI.
The initiative promotes features like AutoPay for credit card bills and secure payments through standardized QR codes, aiming to simplify the user experience while ensuring protections consistent with UPI’s safety standards. The campaign’s messaging—centered on the tagline “Link it, Forget it”—instills confidence in users by showcasing the ease of leaving their wallets at home and relying on their phones for secure transactions.
By combining extensive awareness efforts during major events like IPL with clear guidelines on do’s and don’ts for card-linked UPI usage, NPCI is working to drive mass adoption while mitigating misuse risks. This balanced approach not only encourages digital payment growth but also helps card users make informed and responsible choices in the evolving UPI ecosystem.
