Visit the Home Branch or New Branch
- Go to the current (home) branch or the branch where you want to transfer your salary account.
- Request the account transfer form from the bank representative.
- Ensure you carry valid photo ID proof and your account details.
- In most cases, visiting either branch is acceptable for initiating the request.
- Some banks allow branch transfer requests via online banking.
Fill Out the Account Transfer Form
- Enter your name, account number, existing branch, and target branch details.
- Mention the branch code or IFSC of the new location, if available.
- Provide your signature as per bank records for authentication.
- Indicate whether you want to transfer all services (like passbook, debit card, ECS).
- Sign the declaration for consent to relocate account details to the new branch.
Submit Necessary Documents
- Attach a self-attested copy of identity proof (such as Aadhaar or PAN).
- Include a copy of address proof, especially if the branch transfer is linked to a change of residence.
- Some banks may ask for an application letter along with the transfer form.
- For corporate-managed salary accounts, employer confirmation may be required in some cases.
- Documents must be verified and accepted by the bank staff.
Processing and Confirmation
- The bank initiates the transfer process after validating all details.
- The request may take 3 to 5 working days depending on internal workflow.
- Your account number usually remains the same after the branch change.
- All existing facilities like debit cards, chequebooks, and net banking continue.
- A confirmation SMS or email is sent once the transfer is successful.
Update and Follow-up
- Collect an updated passbook from the new branch if required.
- Update your employer, ECS mandates, or any linked services with the new branch details.
- Request a fresh chequebook if the branch name or IFSC has changed.
- Continue regular transactions to keep the account active.
- Contact customer care or visit the new branch if delays occur.
